Day Fifty-Five of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Fifty-Fifth day of Waiting for your Future Husband.

The verse for today comes from Ecclesiastes 3:1.
There is a time for everything,  and a season for every activity under heaven.

For a couple years we all have to be children,  and then we become adults.

You may have had a time in your life when you felt sad and then a time when you where happy!  Nothing lasts forever.  Just as the seasons come and go,  so it is the same with our lives.  There will be a season when you're single and then when your married.  Embrace the time your single!  You don't know how long you have,  enjoy the freedom of spending time with family and friends and take the time you have to explore who you are and what you enjoy!!

Day Fifty-Four of the 86 Day Challenge

The Fifty-Fourth day of Waiting for your Future Husband is here and it's time to create!

Today you will make a thankful gift for your future husband to place in your box.

What you will need is paper,  pen,  or pencil,  gift wrapping paper or tissue paper,  a small gift box,  ribbon,  and a small trinket.  A small trinket is anything in your room like a small glass star,  a key chain,  or even a pencil that you've had for a long time.  It should remind you of your future husband or marriage.

Next;  wrap the trinket in the wrapping paper or tissue paper,  then set that in the gift box.

Then you will write a note on why that trinket reminds you of him and where you first got it and why.  When your'e done with that you can lay the note on top of the box.

The last thing you'll do is to use the ribbon to tie a bow on top of the box to keep it closed and to keep the not secure.

Then place the small box in your keepsake box!

Day Fifty-Three of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Fifty-Third Day of the Challenge.

Today's verse comes from Psalm 46:10.
"Be still and know that I am God."

Lately  I have been making myself so busy with drawing,  reading,  cooking,  and summer activities in the community that I started to lose sight of who God is.  When we focus on friends,  family,  and boys and other things too much we can forget what God has done and provided for us!

Do you know who the God of love is?  I encourage you today to stop,  turn off or get away from all your electronic devices and be still.  Read The Bible if you have one;  if you don't,  you can download The Bible on your phone.

Day Fifty-Two of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Fifty-Second day of the 86 Day Challenge.

The story today is about a woman named Ruth.

Ruth lived in Moab but,   she married a man from Bethlehem.  Ruth's mother in law was named Naomi;  her husband,  Elimelech died and she became a widow.  After about ten years,  Naomi's sons died and Ruth and her sister in law became widows.  Ruth decided that she would go back to her hometown and she told Ruth and Orpah to marry and stay in their own town.  Orpah left but Ruth stayed with her.

Ruth and Naomi arrived in Bethlehem in time for the barley harvest!
The next day Ruth set to work in a grain field to glean the left overs.  Ruth worked diligently behind the harvesters. Ruth didn't know that she was gleaning in the field of Boaz who was from the tribe of Elimelech!  Boaz found out who Ruth was and he told her she could work with his servant girls and she could get water when she wanted and that he would watch over her.  Ruth was amazed that he noticed her,  a foreigner!  Boaz told her that he heard all about the kindness she showed to her mother in law.

Ruth told Naomi about what happened that day and Naomi was excited to tell her that Boaz was a close relative and a kinsmen redeemer!

If you want to read the whole story it's found in The Bible in the book of Ruth.

Ruth and Boaz were married and loved each other greatly.  Ruth was kind and helpful to her mother in law.  She didn't focus on how she could look for another man but,  she focused on how she could please God.   Who know's,  when your'e working hard at school,  your job or whatever.  Your future husband could be watching you.

Day Fifty of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Fiftieth day of the Wait for your Future Husband Challenge.

The question I would like to ask today is this;  why do people make fun of those who are single?  When a young lady or woman is struggling with not being in a relationship with a man,  what is it that she would want most?  She would want hope,  encouragement and kindness.  Not jokes,  harshness and the cold shoulder.

What can we do and say for a fellow friend who is single and struggling today?

Day Forty-Nine of the 86 Day Challenge

Day Forty-Eight of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Forty-Eighth day of the 86 Day Challenge!

The verse  for today comes from 2 Chronicles 32:8.
"With him is only the arm of flesh,  but with us is the Lord our God to help us and t fight our battles."   And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.

Have you ever wanted your dad,  brother,  or boyfriend to fight for you or help you with something but they didn't?  Yes,  I have been through those experience a couple times.  Doesn't  it make you feel worthless and miserable?  Even though they may not fight for us or help us sometimes,  they don't mean to hurt us but;  that does hurt.

I'm so glad God will fight for us.  He will fight for us and help us through thick and thin,  and even when things don't look so hopeful.  He's here to stay.

Day Forty-Seven of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Forty-Seventh day of the wait for your future Husband Challenge.

The craft for today is to write a letter.  I posted this before but,  this time I'm asking you to write to him about how your summer is and what you've  been doing.  Be honest about how you feel about everything.  You can even tell him about the hardest part or parts about waiting for him.  Then sign,  date and seal it before placing it in your keepsake box.

Day Forty-Six of the 86 Day Challenge

Forty-Sixth day of the 86 Day Challenge is today.

The verse of encouragement for today is from John 4:9-10.

God showed how much He loved us by sending His only son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "prove it."  Usually,  people say that when they don't believe what someone is saying.  Has that ever happened to you?  You want someone to prove that they love you,  not with mere words but with actions.  God gave the ultimate proof that He loved us by letting His son come to earth to be sacrificed to take all of our sins to the grave!  Jesus isn't dead.  He's alive and thriving!  When was the last time someone proved to you or you proved to someone that you love them?

Day Forty-Five of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Forty-Fifth Day of the Challenge.

The story for today is about two special people in my life!

One day a young woman went to a power lifting contest in Tacoma Washington.  She always loved working out and seeing all of the muscle on the human body.

There was an intermission and she left the building to go to her car.  The strange thing was,  she decided to brush her hair.  She never was really interested in brushing her hair all the time through out the day like most girls.  She felt like she needed to though.  As she finished up a young man made his way to her.  Getting ready to get away fast she stopped as the man asked her a question.
"Can you help me to body build?"  Caught off guard she decided to talk to him for a bit.  Surprisingly,  they both had a lot in common.  They hung out with each other and exercised (of course) whenever he wasn't training,  jumping from airplanes or other military work and whenever she wasn't studying for school.  Just after a couple months they were married.  That's the story of Cindy and Donald Boose my mom and dad!!

You should never try to fit in with the crowd doing what they do.  Love what you like and follow God's lead.  He won't let you down.

Today's movie is Enchanted.  Giselle is a girl who just wants to find her prince and experience a true loves first kiss.  We're just like Giselle in a way.  She wants to be loved but all these obstacles keep coming her way.

Pay attention o how she looks at the positive side of things and encourages those around her while she waits for her prince.

Day Forty-Three of the 86 Day Challenge

We're on day Forty-Three of the Wait for your Future Husband 86 Day Challenge.  We're half way there!!

Today's question I will be asking is... Is America treating dating as more of an obsession?  Do you think of boys all the time? If you dated before,  were you really happy and always with your boyfriend but,  then when you broke up were you completely crushed and almost depressed?

Ladies,  do you want to treat guys like drugs?  Always desperate to get more and getting 'high' so to say off the way they talk, walk, smile, etc.  Let's treat them like human beings and give them the chance to see that there's more to us and that we aren't anxious boy-hungry lunatics!

Day Forty-Two of the 86 Day Challenge

Today 's the Forty-Second day of the wait for your Future Husband Challenge, are you ready?

For so long girls and boys, men and woman have been told that you're worthless if  you won't follow what everyone is doing even if it hurts you!  Well,  let me tell you this;  your all priceless.  There is no one in this word like you,  No One!!  Listen to this song by Britt Nicole because you're worth more than gold.

Day Forty-One of the 86 Day Challenge

Hello everyone!  Today is the Forty-First Day of the Challenge.

Today's verse is found in Psalm 42:5-11

"Why are you downcast,  O my soul?  Why so disturbed within me?  Put your hope in God,  for I will praise Him,  my Savior and and my God.  My soul is downcast within me;   therefore I will remember your from the land of the Jordan,  the heights of Hermon-from Mount Mizar.  Deep calls to deep in the roar of the waterfalls;  all the waves and breakers have swept over me.  By day the Lord directs His love,  at night His songs is with me-a prayer to God of my life. I say to God my Rock,  'why have you forgotten me? why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?'  My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, 'Where is our God?'  Why are you downcast, O my soul?  Why so disturbed within me?  Put your hope in God,  for I will yet praise Him,  My Savior and my God."

Isn't that a beautiful letter to us?  Hope is something that all of us want.  When a relationship falls apart or someone dies the one thing that you crave the most is hope.  Jesus let Himself be killed in the cruelest way so we can have an everlasting hope that never extinguishes.  He wants to give it to you because He knows that you need it.

Day Forty of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Fortieth day of the Wait for your Future  Husband Challenge!!  Is everyone doing okay?

Well,  today's craft is whatever comes to mind!  Seriously.  Here's how it works.  You listen to romantic songs like L-O-V-E by Nate King Cole,  At Last by Etta James (my favorite!!) , Blue Moon by Mel Torme,  From this moment by Shania Twain and the list goes on.
Next,  If an idea comes in your head to draw,  paint,  write or create something then do it!!  Believe me,  it's fun.  You can date your finished work if you want.  It's cool to look back and see when you created your special treasure.  Have fun!!

P.S.  I'm going to a Christian camp this week.  I've posted the days that you'll need for the challenge!  Please pray for me and my group that will be going.  Thank you and have fun.  :)

Day Thirty-Nine of the 86 Day Challenge

Day Thirty-Nine of the 86 Day Challenge is today.

Worry is a big emotion that every human being on this earth faces.  You've heard a friend tell you they were worried about their school work,  family matters,  their job or you could be worried about these very things now.  One of the biggest things people worry about is finding their true love.  God has something to say about worry.
"Therefore I tell you,  do not worry about your life,  what you will eat or drink;  or about your body,  What you will wear.  Is not life more important than food,  and the body more important than clothes."
                             Matthew 6:25

Here Jesus is telling His disciples and all people not to worry about your daily needs,  let alone about the man that God will put in your life one day.

Day Thirty-Seven of the 86 Day Challenge

Day Thirty-Seven of the 86 Day Challenge is today.

The movie today is one of my favorites!  Little Woman is a timeless story about sisters,  family,  friendship,  love, and pursuing your dreams.

Pay attention to how Beth,  Jo,  Amy,  and Meg take love between a man and woman seriously and how they spend time as single ladies.  I hope you enjoy this heartwarming story with your sisters and very close girlfriends!

Day Thirty-Six of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Thirty-Sixth day of the Wait for your Future Husband Challenge.

The question I will be asking you today is;  have you ever gotten jealous if you never had a boyfriend or if you haven't had one in a long time?

Is it just me or does it seem like sometimes when you go hang out with friends or family there seem to be couples all over the place?!  For me I get frustrated and annoyed because I feel left out and like I'm out of the loop of some wonderful secret.

If any of you girls felt this way or are feeling it right now,  go to God and have a heart to heart chat and let Him help you figure this out (it helps to talk to friends or family too).

Day Thirty-Five of the 86 Day Challenge

Day Thirty-Four of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Thirty-Fourth day of the wait for your future husband 86 Day Challenge!
The verse for today comes from Isaiah 41:10.

"Don't be afraid,  for I am with. Do not be dismayed,  for I am your God.  I will strengthen you.  I will help you.  I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."

You may think hey,  you already talked about being afraid and dismayed before.  Yes I have,  and the thing is;  all of us need to be comforted more then we think when it comes to our fears.  As you can see above that God is there with us always!  He doesn't roll His eyes and leave us alone when we freak out about even the smallest of things.  He will give us the strength to get through whatever fear we have.  He said He'll help us. He's not going out of His way, He wants to help you.

Day Thirty-Three of the 86 Day Challenge

Day Thirty-Three is today and it's time to make a craft!

Today your'e going to make a key to my heart box to put in your keepsake box for your future husband.

First you'll have to get your supplies from any craft store and I think you can find these supplies at Wal-Mart too.  You'll need paint,  any color you want,  a small box,  two or three fresh roses,  and last but not least a key ( the Victorian ornamental ones are perfect!).

The next thing is you can paint your box.  Add design,  do whatever is to your liking.  You can paint on the top 'key to my heart' or you can leave it blank if you want.

The last thing after the paint dries is to pluck all the petals off the roses and put them in the box.  Then,  you can place the key on the petals.  Protect that key because it unlocks your heart!  ;)   Hehe

Day Thirty-Two of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Thirty-Second day of the Wait for your Future Husband Challenge.

The verse of encouragement for today is found in 1 Peter 4:8.

Love covers a multitude of sins.

Hmm.   Have any of you girls had or have a boyfriend?  If you raised your hand I would like to ask you this. Did you or do you truly love him?  Would you forgive and forget his annoying habits,  his breaking of promises,  not being perfect?  That's what love is.  Loving someone when there not at their best or when they are!  The thing is, you can't practice at loving someone but,  you can cultivate that love.

Read God's love letters to you!  He first loved us so He knows what true love is.

Day Thirty-One of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is day Thirty-One of the Wait for your Future Husband Challenge.

Today's story comes from The Bible,  the very first book.  Genesis.

The first man that was created was Adam.  God gave him a very special job,  God told him to go off and name all the animals,  plants,  etc.  Before Adam even began his job God thought that it wasn't good for man to be alone.  After Adam was done,  he went to God and told him he was lonely.
That night God made Adam sleep deeply and he took one of his ribs and made it into a woman.  When Adam awoke he saw her and was elated to see that God made someone just for him!  He then named her Eve.

It's the same with us.  Before we can meet a man to be our own we need to develop a relationship with God.  It's okay to be alone for a certain amount of time and not have a man in our life.  We  don't know how long it took for Adam to name everything.  It could have taken many days!  God wants us to be alone for a time so we can run to God like Adam did,  and while were  "sleeping" He will and is forming the man that is just for you and me.

In the world but not of it

                            Not of this world

" we live in the world but were not of it."
What does that mean exactly?  You may have heard many people in the church say this. What does that look like.   were from this world so how can we live like were not from it?!  God calls us to not be like the world.  yeah well that was over 2,000 years ago so I'm sure things are a lot different now.  Is it really different?  If God does want us to live a life pleasing to Him.   How might that look?

          Movies,  Movies and more Movies!

I don't know about you but I love movies!  Especially action ones.

There's nothing wrong with watching movies,  it all depends on what it is.

At one point me and two of my sisters loved the Alien and Alien VS. Predator movies.  The action was great and the suspense made it more exciting!  A couple years ago the newest  one came out and we went to the theaters to watch it.  Here's the trailer...

Whoa!!!  Well that's the first time I watched the trailer since watching the movie.  Why did I want to watch that?!  Sorry.  After that movie God asked us. Do you think you should watch this?  No mercy,  no respect or regard for life young and old.  We threw all the movies we owned away.

Guard your heart above all else,  for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all perverse talk;  stay away from corrupt speech.  Look straight ahead,  and fix your eyes on what lies before you.  Mark out a straight path for your feet;  stay on the safe path.  Don't get sidetracked; keep your feet form following evil.
                                                               Proverbs 4:23-27 NLT

Wow,  to me it sounds like God is warning us. Doesn't it?  He knows that our eyes can lead us somewhere that we shouldn't go.  Just like sheep;  Wherever their eyes look their whole body follows.  As Christians we need to keep our eyes on Jesus.
What can help you with watching movies that are better for you ( and your family) is,  look at the rating and read why its rated that way.  If the rating doesn't really seem accurate ask friends what they thought about it if they watched it before you. Most importantly is ask Jesus what He thinks about it.

                                     Dance to the music!

Music is always awesome.  It can inspire and bring up deep emotions that you could  never express in speech.  Why do you think in musicals the characters would break out in song at their saddest and happiest times?

Talking about music here's a song I heard a lot when it was popular.

Yes.  You wanna know where I heard this song?  Children's birthday parties.  I love dancing with the kids when there's a party but when that song came on I couldn't dance.  How can you dance to a song explaining about lust and getting that quick fix.  These girls sang  along!!

As a woman of noble character you need to consider what music you have that is taking your focus away from pure things.
And now,  dear brothers and sister,  one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable , and right, and pure, and lovely,  and admirable.  Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
                                                             Philippians 4:8 NLT

It's okay to listen to Christian and non-christian music.  Just as long as there singing about things that's honorable.  But most of all ask Jesus about what He thinks.

                               It's all about the look

Clothes.  If your someone who loves clothing your probably squealing with excitement at the word.  Did you know God expects us to dress a certain way?
And I want woman to be modest in their appearance.  They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or wearing gold or  pearls or expensive clothes.
                                                          1 Timothy 2:9 NLT

This doesn't mean you have to wear sackcloth and keep your hair unkempt.  God is simply saying.  " Whats more important,  flaunting what you have and getting men's attention or dressing with more of a purpose?"

When you wear less it can get awkward fast.  Especially if your in a professional environment.  Everyone would start thinking the same thing.  When you listen to God's purpose for the way you should dress it can actually be fun and exciting .  Take it from the Proverbs 31 woman!
She makes tapestry for herself;  Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
                                                                               Proverbs 31:22

What she wore didn't sound cheap!  Purple and linen were very expensive fabrics only Kings, Queens and high ranking society wore.  God is saying that as daughters of the king we should dress with a purpose.  That purpose is to express that our focus is not on capturing the attention of men but to glorify our majesty The King and be able to serve Him in any and every situation!

So my fellow sisters in Christ.  We need to help each other follow Jesus and strive forward to Him!  We are here in the world but not from it any longer.

Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;  He's the one who will keep you on track.
                                             Proverbs 3:6

This is what the Lord says-
                           your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel;
"I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.
                                                        Isaiah 48:17

Day Thirty of the 86 Day Challenge

The Thirtieth day is today and that means...movie time!!!

Today's movie for our challenge is 10,000 BC.  It has action,  adventure and of course romance.  Pay attention to how Evelet looks up to Delay and trusts with all her heart that he will protect and rescue her.

Don't you want a man you can trust like that? Bust out the snacks and let the movie begin.

Day Twenty-Nine of the 86 Day Challenge

Today were on the Twenty-Ninth day of the 86 day challenge.  The days are going by so fast!

Today the question I want to ask you is,  why are people so pushy about young ladies having a boyfriend

in their lives?

When I got older people started asking me if I had a boyfriend yet.  At first I was embarrassed,  that seemed like such a personal question!  Now I just say,
"I'm waiting on God to place the right man in my life."
When I say that a lot of people literally deflate a little bit!!  Why? Can't people be happy when a young woman chooses to focus on other things in her life then scrounging around for a man?

Day Twenty-Seven of the 86 Day Challenge

We are on day Twenty-Seven of the 86 day challenge.

I hope all of you are doing okay. Here's the encouragement of today.
"He himself is our peace."     Ephesians 2:14

Who is he?  You may be wondering. He is Jesus.  Jesus is our only peace in the cruel rough world.  You may find that sometimes this dating,  boyfriend frenzy overwhelms you sometimes and you want to get away and have a moment of calm.

I'm going to give you a small challenge for today.  Set the timer on your phone for five minutes.  Sit in the most comfortable place in your room or backyard (anywhere that is peaceful and quiet.) Then talk to God.  Tell Him your fears,  joys,  everything!  He wants a time of peace with you today.

Burned Out?

                                                   Burned out?

Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you'll recover your life.  I'll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me- watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I wont lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.  Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.
                                          Matthew 11:28-30 MSG

Does that explain the way you feel right now?  Are you completely exhausted about taking your kids to and from places,  going to endless meetings,  classes that go on and on or cleaning and cooking for no reason?

Do you even find yourself bored with the idea of going to church and it sounds more like another list of things you have to do?

                                       Come away with me
When I was younger the idea of a strange character from a different world befriending me and taking me away on an awesome adventure always intrigued me.  I guess you can say all woman (and men) want to be apart of something bigger then themselves.  We want to be able to leave the norm and dive into a wonderful quest full of mystery, and romance.   Then our bubble is popped when we start thinking of what we'll leave behind and so on.
Jesus calls us quietly and earnestly.  He calls us to join Him by the still waters ( psalm 23:2 ESV).  The perfect painting I can think of is this by Thomas Kinkade  its called The beginning of a perfect day.

Look at this image for a few moments.  Wouldn't that be the perfect place to go?  Just you and Jesus for a whole week!  Yeah well only in Heaven you may think.  You can have this,  really!
I remember when I was burned out of reading my Bible,  going to church,  drawing, everything!!!  What I needed was a break from the normal.  Jesus invited me on a  date.  Instead of going inside to Bible study at my church  one Wednesday evening;  he whispered
"come and watch the sunset with me, I created it just for you." that was amazing. There were warm streaks of pink, a baby blue back drop with purple here and there.  I found myself opening up to Him and telling Him my longing for Him.  He seemed to pat me on the back and warmly reply " just what you needed right?"
I agreed and sang songs and read my Bible with a renewed excitement and strength.  I didn't want our time to end.  I wanted it to last forever.

Jesus knew exactly what I needed to renew my strength and allow me to rest in Him.  In that time of rest Jesus reminded me that our life,  everyday is a grand adventure filled with meaning and purpose.  As long as you keep Him in your focus everything will grow dim and you'll see you'r savior with more clarity and understanding.
