The 31 Day Music Experiment: DayThirty-One

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music.
                                                                                                                         Psalm 98:4

Today's last and final artist is...Love and the Outcome!

Of course I first was introduced to them from the radio.

The song that has helped me was "He is With Us." God has used that song to encourage me through that time when me and my family were getting ready to move across the country. When I would feel hopeless and like nothing would go right, God would remind me that he is with me and will never forsake me.

                                                              The songs for today are...
                                                                         He is With Us
                                                                         City of God

Thank you for joining me in this amazing and fun journey of exploring the world of Christian music. I hope this encourages you to continue from here. Don't stop! There are so many more. Here's a small list of more artists that you can listen to.

                                                                        Britt Nicole
                                                                        Skillet
                                                                        Micheal W. Smith
                                                                        Nicole C. Mullen
                                                                        Selah
                                                                        Third Day
                                                                        Mercy Me
                                                                        Newsboys
... And so, so much more. I hope you have a great adventure!!

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Thirty

Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.
                                Ephesians 5:19

The artist for today is...Francesca Battistelli!

When one of my sisters bought Francesca's first CD after hearing her music on the radio, I would hear her music blaring from the neighboring room. I enjoyed hearing it through the walls so, I asked if I could borrow it so I could actually hear what she was singing.

One of the songs I love and is so dear to my heart is "Someday Soon". I loved (and still do) imagining days of being with my future husband and this song brought that dream to life. Even though I'm still waiting, I know that one day we'll be together.

                                                                  The songs for today are...
                                                                                             Someday Soon
                                                                                             Write Your Story

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Twenty-Nine

I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.
                                                                             Psalm 108:3

The artist for today is Peter Furler!

I've grown up hearing Peter Furler's familiar voice on the radio when he was with the band Newsboys. A couples years ago he went solo and a song that he came out with always gets me dancing and it's called "I'm Alive."

That song always fills me with joy and excitement when I hear it. Sometimes when filled with doubt or fear I forget that I am safe in my Fathers hands. Then God reminds me that he is my firm foundation, my rock in the times of terror and confusion. So I want to thank him for his grace and love!

                                                                               The songs for today are...
                                                                                             I'm Alive
                                                                                             Reach

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Twenty-Eight

My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul.
                                                                                                                      Psalm 108:1

                                             The artist for today is...Everfound!

I first heard of this group when I attended Winter Jam. The concert was ten bands for ten bucks! You can't complain or pass that up. So, this group is from Russia. One of the men in the group explained that they are so thankful to come to a country where they can express their faith and love for Jesus Christ!

The song that clicked with me was "Never Beyond Repair." There were many times (and still now sometimes) where I feel like, Okay I've blown it this time. God will definitely not forgive this after the millionth time! But no, we are never beyond God's love or his grace.

                                                                                The songs for today are...
                                                                                                   Never Beyond Repair
                                                                                                   Take this City

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Twenty-Seven

And his associates -Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani-with musical instruments prescribed  by David the man of God. Ezra the scribe led the procession.
                  Nehemiah 12:36

                                              Today's artist is Moriah Peters!

The first time I heard of Moriah Peters was maybe two or three years ago. I was lifting weights in the garage when this song "I Choose Jesus" came on. I never heard it before so I stopped and listened. Then the radio hosts explained that this young woman was very strong in her faith and her relationship and love for God was amazing!

The song is so beautiful to  me. It's easy for us to say..."I'll choose the double latte with whip cream on top," or "I choose to stay away from that group of people." But it's actually hard to say no to things we want to get done or do and instead say..."I choose Jesus!"

                                                                                         The songs for Today is...
                                                                                                          I Choose Jesus
                                                                                                          You Carry Me

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Twenty-Six

These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the Lord after the ark came to rest there.
                             1 Chronicles 6:31

                                                   Today's artist is...Toby Mac!

I can't remember when I started listening to him. I grew up listening to his group " DC Talk,"so when he went solo, our family naturally listened to him.

The song I remember of his when he was still starting off on his own was "Gain the World." I was familiar with the verse where Jesus questions the disciples about gaining the world yet losing your soul (Mark 8:36).  It gave me a deeper sense of what it really means to lose your soul and would you want to have everything you want and not take care of considering your eternal life.

                                                                     The songs for today are...
                                                                                            Gain the world
                                                                                            Eye On It

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Twenty-Five

All these men were under the supervision of their fathers for the music of the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God.
                                                                                                                              1 Chronicles 25:6

The artist for today is...Jesus Culture!

This isn't necessarily a group but a ministry outreach. But it's a very powerful one.

I heard about it through my sisters. I think they found this song on YouTube and they showed our whole family. The song was called "How He Loves." David Crowder Band originally sang it but, this version was sung by Kim Walker. In the middle of the song she shares with the crowd how much God loves them. It's so moving. That was the first time I've ever seen someone express their love and passion for God so honestly and openly.

                                                                    The songs for today are...
                                                                                      How He Loves
                                                                                       Your Love Never Fails

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Twenty-Four

My Heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.
                                                                                                                              Psalm 57:7

The artist for today is...Kerrie Roberts!

I heard this musical artist on the radio like so many others.

The song that has helped me through hard times came on the radio a lot when I needed to hear it (thanks be to God). It was "No Matter What." Her second CD is so encouraging and it targets more thought provoking topics and contemplation.

                                                                           The songs for today are...
                                                                                          No Matter What
                                                                                          What are you Afraid of

The 31 Day Music Challenge: Day Twenty-Three

Four Thousand are to be gatekeepers and four thousand are to praise the Lord with the musical instruments I have provided  for that purpose.
                                                                                                      1 Chronicles 23:5

                               Today's artist is...Nate Sallie!

It was awhile ago when one of my sisters bought this guy's CD. It was on clearance and she was interested in hearing his music. When I got the chance to hear it I liked it.

The song that has burned in my memory is "What I Believe." The chorus is so  memorable and powerful.
You can take away my freedom, you can take away my human rights, you can take away my family, everything you see, even take my life but you can't take away what I believe, the miracle inside of me, cause love has set this captive free, I can do all things through the one who ransomed me, but you can't take away what I believe.

What would life be like if all of us was like that? Living so selflessly that we can look past persecution and hold onto our faith and love for Christ!

                                                                            The songs for Today are...

                                                                                          What I Believe
                                                                                          Breakthrough

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Twenty-Two

In front are the singers, after them the musicians; with them are the maidens playing tambourines.
                                   Psalm 68:25

                                          Today's artists is...Need To Breath!

I first heard this group on the radio (of course).  The song I often heard from them was called "Lay E'm Down" from their third CD. After looking into them, I collected all the CD's that were out at that time.

One of my favorite songs by them is (it's hard to choose one because I love all their music!)"Signature of Divine (Yahweh)." That song reminds me that God is an artist; and if he had an original signature, it would be us. We are created in the image of God and that makes us unique from all of creation.

                                                The songs for Today are...

                                                                         Signature of Divine (Yahweh)
                                                                          Your Love Is

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Twenty-One

All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from palaces adorned with ivory the music of the strings makes you glad.
                                                                                              Psalm 45:8

                                           The artist for today is...Mandisa!

The first time I saw her was on American Idol, Season five. She had a great audition. The only negative was Simon's rude comment. She didn't let that stop her but has been singing ever since spreading the joy, peace and hope of Christ!

The first song I heard that Mandisa came out with was "He's with you." That song was inspiring. Sometimes it's hard to believe that God is with us in every single area of our lives. But he is and he's faithful.

                                                       The songs for today are...

                                                                               He's with you
                                                                               Overcomer

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Twenty

Come let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our Salvation.
                                                                                                                          Psalm 95:1

The artist for today is...Colton Dixon!

I saw his first CD in The Family Christian Bookstore and often thought and wondered what his music sounded like. I was curious to hear his music, especially seeing his wild hair. After a couple weeks I found out that he sang an adaption of  "Let Them See You" from J.J Weeks Band. I love that song because it reminds me that it's not about me at all. It's about God and making him known to the world. I hope this becomes my prayer and yours, that people will not see us but Christ in us!

                                                        Today's songs are...
                                                                             Let Them See You
                                                                             More Of You

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Nineteen

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
                                                                                                                    Psalm 95:2

                                     The artist for today is...Gungor!

One of my sisters (as always) showed me this group. I liked them a little but I'm not as into them as she is. There is one song, though, that resonates with my soul. The church that me and my family go to now sang this song, it's called "Beautiful Things." That was one of the first songs I sang at that church. I felt like God was directly singing to me. A lovely song about beauty, renewal; a song about me and you.

                                                               The songs for today are...

                                                                                      Beautiful  Things
                                                                                       I Am Mountain

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Eighteen

Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.
                                                                                                                         Psalm 33:3

The artist for today is...Natalie Grant!

Natalie Grant's voice has always been a familiar presence in my life. I would hear her voice in our home on the radio or in the car when driving on trips or going on errands. "Held" by Natalie Grant is so bittersweet. Pain, death and hurting has always been with us; in that song she brings up those thoughts of why? Through life's horrors and despair, we just want to be held. When I would hear that song on the radio it always reminded me that God is there holding me, even in my darkest times.
                                                                       The songs for today are...

                                                                                                  Held
                                                                                                  Hurricane

The 31 Day Music Experiment: Day Seventeen

Make music to the Lord with the harp and the sound of singing.
                                                                                                                   Psalm 98:5

                     Today's artist is ...Andy Mineo!

Okay everyone I have to be honest; I don't really know anything about this musical artist. I heard this song called "The Saints" a little bit ago on Pandora, I loved the beat and the creativity of the song. What got my attention was that he sounds like he's singing about the life of a Christian and how it's tough!

                                            Today's songs are...

                                                                   The Saints
                                                                    You Can't Stop Me

The 31 Day Experiment: Day Sixteen

They sing to the music of tambourine and harp; they make merry to the sound of the flute.
                                                                                                                     Job 21:12

                    Today's artist is...Fireflight!

I can't necessarily say how  or where I first heard this band but I remember looking for a song that would fit a lesson for a middle school Bible study I was teaching at church. The subject that week was about choice. That was tough trying to find a song about that. I was looking on YouTube and what came up was Fireflight and the song was "You Decide." That fit so well with what I was going to teach! That song also helped me think about choice. It's not God who makes us do the wrong or right thing, we can choose to obey God or not.

                                                 The songs for today are...

                                                                                 You Decide
                                                                                 For Those Who Wait
