Day Seventeen of the 86 Day Challenge

Day seventeen of the wait for your future husband challenge:

The story I will be telling you today is about a man named Jacob.

One day Jacob was in the field (he was on a long journey) and he saw some shepherds with their flocks around the well.  He greeted them and conversed with them until he saw his cousin Rachel coming to the well with her sheep.  They were happy to see each other (Jacob was looking for her father Laban).

Jacob stayed with Laban and his family for a month. Laban wanted Jacob to work for him and he asked him what he wanted his wages to be.  Jacob wanted Rachel's hand in marriage. Laban agreed and Jacob worked seven years for her.  It only felt like days because he loved her so much!  Finally the day came for Jacob to marry Rachel!  After their wedding day, Jacob  woke up to find that Leah, Rachel's older sister, was next to him!!  Laban wanted Jacob to marry Leah first before Rachel.  Jacob was very angry. He ended up working seven more years for Rachel!!!  After those seven years, a total of fourteen years, he married Rachel and loved her very much.

That story is found in the Bible,  in Genesis 29:1-30.

Wow,  what would it be like living in the same place with the man you love and you can't marry him until seven years are up?  Would you wait for only him?  I know it would be hard for me.  Jacob wasn't just sitting on the couch feeling sorry for himself; he was working.  The same can apply to us!  We can focus on school work,  our chores,  a babysitting job,  dog sitting,  volunteering etc.  Instead of who the cutest boy in school, work the neighborhood or wherever you are is,  if you believe that God has chosen a man just for you,  prove it!
