Day Seventy-Three of the 86 Day Challenge

Today is the Seventy-Third day of The Wait for your Future Husband 86 Day Challenge!

Today's story is about a young lady named Esther.

Esther lived in Susa during the reign of King Xerxes.  She was an ordinary girl;  she probably had hopes and dreams just like you and me.

One day a decree was carried out that every beautiful young virgin was to be brought to the kings harem to be prepared to become queen!  Esther was one of many to be brought to the palace.  After a year of beauty treatments,  Esther won the favor of many people she met and,  when it was her turn to meet the king,  she won his favor as well.   Xerxes,  the king of Susa crowned Esther as his new Queen!!

After a couple days,  Esther's cousin Mordecia found some men planning on assassinating the king.  Mordecia told Esther,  who then told the king.

One day Haman;  the kings second in command became furious with Mordecia because he didn't kneel before Haman and that was the law!  Haman thought of a plan.  He brought up to the king that all Jews should be killed because there was to many of them everywhere ( he just wanted revenge on Mordecia).  The decree was put out for all to see.  The Jews were baffled at the news.

Mordecia told Esther of the horrible decree.  Esther kept it a secret of her nationality,  no one knew she was a Jew but,  she was the only one who could talk to the king.  This scared Esther because she knew she had to tell the king as soon as possible but;  she would have to make an appointment to speak to the king.  That could take months and it would be to late!

Courageously Esther went to the king and invited him and Haman to have dinner with her.  They accepted.  Esther was going to tell the king the news but she became frightened and invited them over for dinner again the next  night.  Finally,  when the time came for Esther to tell the king,  she was able.  The king was so furious with Haman that he had him hung at that very moment!!

If you want more details of the story,  you can read it from the Bible in the book of Esther.

Many  of us think we could never be as brave as Esther.  On our own,  yeah.  That's impossible.  If I was Esther I would probably run away and change my name!!  The thing is  the power of God is strong.  He gave Esther the courage to face the king and God saved all the Jews because of her faith and trust in God.
